The Kooks veröffentlichen ein neues Album! Das inzwischen fünfte Album der Briten trägt den Namen Let’s Go Sunshine und erscheint am 31. August 2018 via den Labels Lonely Cat / AWAL Recordings/ Kobalt.
Im vergangen Jahr veröffentlichten Luke, Hugh, Pete und Alexis das The Best Of… So Far, auf welchem alle ihre großen Hits seit ihrer Debüt Platte Inside In/Inside Out vertreten waren. Nachdem sie das Album Listen im Jahr 2014 veröffentlicht haben, kommt nun neues von The Kooks. Sänger Luke Pritchard sagt folgendes über den Entstehungsprozess des neuen Albums:
This one was about defining who we are, we were asking the questions. It was a fractured start, we went into the studio in 2015 continuing down the path we set out on our last studio album “listen” and discovered it wasn’t what we wanted to make and wasn’t really the kooks. So we scrapped it and started again. I really went on a mission to write the best songs I’d ever written before bringing them to the band, i stewed over every word. It had to be our rubber soul, Lola, definitely maybe. Proper British lineage. I came from a dark place at the start had a lotta heartbreak and then falling in love in the middle of the album, the lyrics reflect that. From ‘fractured and dazed’ to ‘no pressure’. It’s gotta be our most exciting album, and it should get you dancing.
Das Album ist also sowohl von Herschmerz wie auch dem frisch Verliebt sein geprägt und lädt uns zum tanzen ein. Wir sind gespannt. Besonders süß finden wir auch, dass der Junge auf dem Albumcover der Sohn des Bassisten Peter Denton ist.
Als kleinen Vorgeschmack auf das Album haben The Kooks gleich zwei neue Songs aus dem Album veröffentlicht. Beide klingen ziemlich leicht, locker – sommerlich.

The Kooks waren in der britischen Sendung The One Show zu Gast und erzählten ein wenig zum neuen Album. Außerdem spielten sie dort ihren Song All The Time.
Übrigens haben wir im Sommer gleich mehrfach die Chance, The Kooks live zu erleben denn sie spielen unter anderem zwei Support Shows für niemand geringern als The Rolling Stones.
